Located in the middle part of the coastline and the south wing of Yangtze River Delta,
Ningbo is a sub-provincial city in Zhejiang province in China. Ningbo is one of China's oldest
cities, with a history dating to the Hemudu culture in 4800 BC. Ningbo was known as a trade
city on the maritime silk road at least two thousand years ago, and then as a major port in
the Tang Dynasty. Ningbo is not only a historic city of culture, but also the economic center
and advanced manufacturing base in south wing of Yangtze River Delta. The port of Ningbo
is one of the world’s busiest ports, which is second only to Shanghai around the world in
terms of annual cargo throughput.
