INDUSTRIAL FORUM @ ISRM 2013
Innovations and research in robotics for Singapore productivity
Friday, 4 October 2013 Abstract One of the purposes in conducting research and finally investing in industrial robotics and automation has been to improve productivity, product quality and human working conditions. Automation equipment and related services constitute a large and rapidly growing market. Supply networks of component manufacturers and system integrators, allied to engineering skills for planning, implementing and operating advanced production facilities, are regarded as cornerstones of manufacturing innovation. This is also one of main goals emphasized in a recent national initiative through the launching of the 3-year A*STAR’s Robotics program. The 3rd IFToMM International Symposium on Robotics and Mechatronics will be held in Singapore from the 2nd to 4th of October 2013, aims to bring together researchers, industry professionals and students from a broad range of disciplines related to Robotics and Mechatronics, in an intimate, collegial and stimulating environment. An industrial Forum held in conjunction with ISRM 2013 will be dedicated to presenting highlight development and research in industrial robotics and automation, covered by the professors and researchers working on the national robotics program. Presentations will also address examples of technology transfer of robot technology and automation, which result from cooperative efforts between research, industry, and robotics providers, thereby motivating researchers to engage in a fruitful dialogue and cooperation with industry for creating industrial impact. Local SMEs in various sectors will be invited to join the forum and share their views on the current issues and future needs in tackling the productivity by virtue of robotics and automation. The session line-up of the ISRM2013 Industrial Forum will start with the presentations by the various team leaders in various fields. Further sessions will address and discuss industrial robotics applications in various domains together with the industry and robotics providers. The discussion covers robot-related technologies ranging from sensing, grippers to industrial controllers and other important basic technology for robotics. Industrial Forum ISRM2013 Industrial Forum provides specialized conference sessions hosting speakers from professors, researchers, industry to discuss product and technology directions, challenges, and other industry issues. Speakers are to focus their presentations on technical challenges of interest to the technical audience; there is no written conference publication. Speakers are expected to interact with the conference attendees to discuss research and Industry issues. Admission to the industry forum sessions is complimentary for all conference attendees and invited SMEs. Here is the program for the Industrial Forum*:
